Tasting Australia 2022 – The Line & Label

Since their inception, Peter Teakle Wines has led the way in transforming the Eyre Peninsula into a premium South Australian wine region. Now the stellar team have turned their attention to elevating the region into a must-visit foodie destination also with their award-winning restaurant, The Line & Label. Under the watchful eye of recently-appointed executive chef Mark Jensen, the Line & Label Restaurant was recently awarded both the Australian Good Food Guides’ Chef Hat and Readers’ Choice Award – the only venue in the Eyre Peninsula to achieve such honours.

As part of Mark and his team’s commitment to transforming the Eyre Peninsula into a gastronomical destination, The Line & Label are thrilled to announce that they will be serving up the best produce the Eyre Peninsula has to offer as part of Tasting Australia on May 5. As one of only a handful of events in this year’s line-up to be hosted on the Eyre Peninsula, Mark and team are thrilled to be putting the Eyre Peninsula on the foodie map, and encouraging the wider South Australian community to come and experience the best that the region, most notably Port Lincoln, has to offer.

“As a chef, it’s incredibly exciting to be based in Port Lincoln, the seafood capital of Australia, and have the opportunity to work with so many quality local suppliers and incredible local produce,” says Jensen.

“We are thrilled to be involved with Tasting Australia, and can’t wait for people to come and experience the incredible produce we have here.”

In addition to highlighting Port Lincoln’s renowned seafood, Jensen’s menu also showcases the produce that is grown on site at Peter Teakle Wines. Jensen and the team regularly forage in the vegetable garden and greenhouse on site for herbs, vegetables and edible flowers.

“We are working towards creating a full paddock to plate experience,” explains Jensen.

“The vegetable garden is still in the early stages, but we use as much of our produce as we can and we plan to keep expanding. Peter (Teakle) has invested heavily in fresh water, installing 1.2 million litre tanks which sets us apart in the Eyre Peninsula where accessing fresh water has always been a challenge. We also use our flowers and herbs for colorful garnishes, not only adding colour and flavour, but also allowing us to add a nice personal touch.”

Prior to relocating to Port Lincoln, Jensen was executive chef at iconic establishments, Qualia Resort on Hamilton Island, Lizard Island Resort and Spicers Peak Lodge.

“We are thrilled to have an executive chef of Mark’s calibre with us at The Line & Label and to have an opportunity to showcase the incredible work he and the team do to the wider South Australian community with an event like Tasting Australia,” says Ben Teakle, Managing Director of Peter Teakle Wines and The Line & Label.

“We hope to see our regular patrons at our Tasting Australia event, but also to encourage South Australians to make the trip to Port Lincoln and come and immerse themselves in this beautiful part of our state, and experience our incredible produce, hospitality and wine”.

Tickets are now available to purchase online via Tasting Australia.
