Barbaroi is a daring circus performance based in a dystopian world where gangs overrun the neon-clad side streets and chaos lurks in the shadows. There is a showdown happening downtown; a lone wanderer stumbles amongst a crew of meta-human misfits, the Barbaroi. The question remains, will she have what it takes to become one of them?
Six performers take on the stage in the Wonderland Spiegeltent hosted in Hindmarsh Square this Adelaide Fringe season. With elements of high-octane circus, cabaret and physical theatre, this show wows the audience with a variety of high-energy performances that come together to tell a dark, somewhat disturbing story.
The performers take on their character’s personalities with ease and truly engage the audience in the world of Barbaroi. The performance flows effortlessly as the performers work together with obvious symmetry and trust. A few hiccups came with the performance due to technical errors, but the performers remained in character and breezed through these errors with grace, not letting a single mistake hinder their performance.
An evening of talented performers paired with intense music, awesome lighting and haze effects, Barbaroi is a great show to enjoy at this year’s Adelaide Fringe. Grab some friends and a couple of drinks and take a break from your time in The Garden of Unearthly Delights have some fun with this great performance.
