As the weather starts to turn towards sunnier days, there is no time like the present to roll out the picnic blanket and bask in the sun. First out the gate of what is sure to be plenty of Summer events is The Urban Picnic in Stepney.
The Picnic’s creator Sam Worrall-Thompson has been hosting summer celebrations for some time. Known for the annual beachside festival The Sailing Club, Fine and Fettle in Magill and Kitchen and Catering by Sam. Putting together big projects is no stranger to Sam. Sam has put all the contacts and relationships he has built in his latest event, The Urban Picnic. Two days of food, music, drinks and local vendors come together to kick of the summer right.
Held in the Linde Reserve, Sam has created a family friendly space where you can sit back in a relaxing atmosphere and just enjoy the good food and drink that Adelaide has to offer. With plenty of street food options and Adelaide Gin making an appearance there are many ways us adults can enjoy a day in the sun. As for the kids Peter Coombe made an appearance on the Saturday as well as the jolly red man boiling in his suit. Local business market stalls alongside kids’ activities make this an ideal day out for everyone involved.
Other appearances included Ginscato, Ambra Liqueurs, Pawn Wine Co, Little Bang Brewery, Brasco’s Pizza, Hygge Studio and many more. To create a sustainable event all vendors have been asked to provide biodegradable packaging and serve ware.
On the music side of things Wasabi Entertainment procured a extensive line-up of local performers.
With Summer about to head into full swing it’s good to see the laid back, picnic vibes coming back. The Urban Picnic is only the beginning for Sam Worrall-Thompson and the start of a fantastic Adelaide Summer season.
