All new Spanish inspired Tapas bar ‘Boca Chica’ has opened its doors; holding its all anticipated media launch last week.
Inspired by the culture and colour of the El Born district of Barcelona, the newly renovated space has completely been transformed, giving guests the feel of stepping into Spain when visiting the new tapas bar.
Formerly 1877 Pasta and Wine Bar, Boca Chica is set to bring Catalan flavour to the north-eastern suburbs of Adelaide.
Co-owner, Michael Sfera, recently arriving back from a trip to Spain, had some new ideas in mind how to bring the new Tapas bar to life.
“I felt that in Adelaide, there was a lot of the same type of offering […] So after a number of trips to Spain and learning the language and experiencing it, I thought it would work really well here.
“I was really trying to focus on the authenticity of a new experience,” he said.
At the Boca Chica launch, Michael Sfera introduced Head Chef, Oliver Morris, who has embraced the Spanish cuisine and found a niche in creating modern dishes from Spanish traditions.
“Spanish food is about flavour, taste, its quick, it is at the moment on-trend in relation to the fact that it’s probably the best cuisine to share.”
“I think shared eating is maybe where things are heading […] the fact that we can offer anything from a pinxtos to a tapas to a late night toasted sandwich, to a paella or a mixed grill, means that we provide and cater for how guests are feeling food wise; and we can match our beer and wine experience with it” said Michael Sfera.
Set to start a fiesta is Boca Chica’s vibrant new cocktail menu, showcasing Sangria, Pommy Collins, Sour Chica, Fresh Chica, Aperol Sprits and Espresso Martini’s.
The new wine menu also features a range of authentic Spanish drops, as well as Spanish varieties from local wineries.
The new menu encourages guest to share their meals with family or loved ones; it’s the traditional Spanish way of eating and so Michael Sefera wanted to bring this style to Adelaide.
“We’re as close to a Spanish experience that can be casual, intimate or fun in Adelaide,” he said.
With it’s signature splash of red, the space had been transformed with Spanish tiled tables, vibrant wallpaper, a vintage mirror wall, feature frame walls and a garden arch with pots of cacti and succulents adding the finishing touches to the outdoor beer and wine garden.
The beautiful space and wonderful staff makes Boca Chica the perfect place for guests to relax or catch up with friends and family; as it offers so many spaces that cater for every customer’s needs.
“We have four or five different spaces where you can hang out; some are private and intimate, some are casual bar style, others are dining and others are good for a group of friends to just chill out. Plus we have a Mexican wine and beer garden. … I don’t think anything else in this area has anything like it,” said co-owner Michael Sfera.
Boca Chica is also hosting their very own ‘Mother’s Day Bottomless Brunch’. Held on Sunday 13 May, 10am till 12pm, Boca Chica will be serving a range of Pintxos, Tapas and Churros, with a bottomless House Bubbly, wine, beer and Sangria.
Seats are limited so book your places now, as you definitely don’t want to miss out.
Located on Montague Rd, adjacent to Sefera’s Park Suites and Convention Centre, Boca Chica is sure to be a popular location for both Spanish lovers and others alike.
