Last Thursday night 150 VIP guests were invited to an official ribbon cutting to open the Holiday Inn Express Adelaide City Centre. Guests entered on a glamorous blue carpet while bartenders served up suitably chosen eXpresso martinis. The event, hosted by Adelady Lauren De Cesare, formally introduced the hotel to the Adelaide market, which hopes to ride along with South Australia’s recent tourism boost.
The hotel is the first of the franchise to open in South Australia and the third in Australia, with plans of twelve more Holiday Inn Expresses to open in Australia by 2025. The nine-storey building, with a total of 245 rooms featuring public spaces such as a gym and meeting room, offers a modern, convenient and affordable option for travellers coming to Adelaide or families looking for a night out on the town. The hotel also boasts a free breakfast buffet, uncapped Wi-Fi and even your choice of pillow!
Situated in an ideal location right in the heart of the CBD, with Rundle Mall, the Adelaide Convention Centre, the Adelaide Railway Station, and a huge variety of restaurants and bars only a few minutes’ walk away, the hotel hopes to attract travellers – particularly business travellers – from interstate or overseas.
South Australian Tourism Minister Leon Bignell estimates more than half of the business people sent to Adelaide for conferences and meetings end up returning with their families for holidays after falling in love with our beautiful city.
Though the hotel mainly targets interstate and international travellers, with the warmer weather coming up and the kids on school holidays, why not book a weekend away for the family? You might just be the one of the first guests to stay in Adelaide’s first state-of-the-art Holiday Inn Express!
