Il Kafe is a small cafe located inside the Bayside Village Shopping Centre. Open for daytime trade this place offers a selection of breakfast and lunch options, light snacks, sweets and beverages. Il Kafe is deceptively large with seating for over 40 people and is popular among locals who live in the area.

For lunch, I ordered the Lamb Burger. The dish arrived 15 minutes after ordering and was average in presentation. For the first time ever, I was served a burger upside down. Instead of a patty, the meat consisted of morsels of lamb that were lean and well marinated, but overcooked. The lettuce was fresh and crisp, the tomato slices were ripe and juicy, and the mango sauce added a touch of sweetness. The bun was very dry and the side of French fries was over salted. There was very little I liked about this dish I’m afraid.

The staff were friendly and the service was fast and efficient. The atmosphere was relaxed, even with the rush of people streaming through the complex. The cost of the food is fairly average with breakfast items starting at $3, light snacks $6 and lunch $8.50. The Lamb Burger was $11.90 which would have been a fair price had it been good. Unfortunately, you get what you pay for here.
