Monday’s Coffee Store is located on the northern side of Gawler Place in the bit between Rundle Mall and North Terrace. The name of the store is loosely based on Everyday Coffee, which Jarrad, the owner, was familiar with during his time in Melbourne. As their name suggests, Monday’s offers a selection of espresso and filtered coffees, as well as teas, classic snacks and sweet and savoury items.

The decor at Monday’s is very minimalist with clean lines and plenty of white. There are few seats available but most of their clientele are in for a quick cup of coffee to take back to the office.

For breakfast, I ordered the Pastrami Bagel. The creamy nutty taste of the comte cheese was melted over the generous layers of salted pastrami. Mustard and pastrami go hand in hand like smoked salmon and creamed cheese. The savoury horseradish mustard balances out the saltiness of the pastrami, and the flavour combination was just right.

The staff were friendly and the service was good. The atmosphere was relaxed and the pricing was average, although $13 for the bagel was a bit more than expected. Having said that, it was very filling and the ingredients were of a premium quality.
