Sunny Side Up is a typical suburban cafe located in a small shopping complex on the corner of Oaklands and Diagonal Roads. Open only on weekdays, they offer an all day breakfast, burgers, salads, hot packs, hot dogs and pizza platters.
For lunch, I ordered the Steak Sandwich which was ready after a 10 minute wait. The steak slices were wafer thin and a little on the dry side. The cheese was stringy and nicely melted, while the runny egg yolk dripped down the sides and combined well with all the ingredients. The lettuce was fresh and crisp, and the tomato was soft and ripe. The natural sweetness of the caramelised onion and beetroot well complimented the buttered toast slices.
The staff were friendly and the service was good. The atmosphere was relaxed and the pricing was reasonable. The cost of the Steak Sandwich was $8 which is on par with other suburban sandwich stores.
Not the typical Steak Sandwich you would get at a pub but a good cheap lunch option out in the suburbs.
