In Thais Cafe & Noodle Bar

There are a handful of cafes down Jetty Road in Brighton that have a decent breakfast menu, and In Thais is one of them. Breakfast is served until 11:30am and there are just under a dozen gourmet options on offer. From midday, it changes to a Thai menu with salads, noodles, curries, stir fries and rice dishes, which is pretty much includes all your Thai favourites.

The decor is neat and well presented, and the dark coloured walls work well with some of the Thai inspired paintings. There are a fair few seats inside, but the outside dining area is where it’s at. With views of the ocean and shaded by a large tree, the space is perfect during the Summer.

For lunch, I ordered the Chicken Pad Thai. The noodles were a bit gluggy and stuck together, and the chicken was slightly over cooked. The peanuts and bean sprouts were conservatively applied and the crunchy texture I crave for in this dish was lacking. I also thought the flavour was a bit off and it was as though sweet chilli sauce was liberally applied to this dish. The inclusion of capsicum was interesting as it added a subtle sweetness which seemed to work.

The staff were friendly and the service was good. The atmosphere was relaxed and the pricing was average. The cost of the Chicken Pad Thai was $14.50 ($1 less for take away) which is about right. The main dishes start at $14.50 and go all the way to $21.50 which is quite reasonable.
