Located in a stall on one of the back corners of The Market Shed is The Early Bird. The site comes equipped with a woodoven which accounts for most of their menu. The meals available include shakshuka, bruschetta, croissants and 5 types of pizza.

Today, I had the Baked Egg Shakshuka which contains eggplant, capsicum, roast tomato, coriander, chilli and eggs baked in a woodfire oven. It’s served with organic natural yoghurt and sourdough bread. The dish was ready after a 15 minute wait and was nicely presented on a wooden chopping board.
This dish had some lovely middle eastern flavours. The sweetness of the capsicum and tomato were well balanced by the sourness of the yoghurt. The two eggs in the dish were fully cooked through and I could detect subtle hints of chilli throughout the dish. The sourdough bread was buttered and toasted, and was a bit too crunchy for my liking.

The staff were friendly and the service was fast and efficient. The atmosphere was relaxed and the pricing was reasonable. The cost of the dish was $14 which is on par to going to a cafe. Meals start at $8 and go all the way to $18.
There’s some nice gourmet meals to be had at The Market Shed, and this place is one of them.
