Hains & Co.

The newest bar to open up in Adelaide is Hains & Co, which is located on Gilbert Place, right in the heart of the Adelaide CBD. It’s headed by the award winning Marcus Motteram, who has already established several successful bars in Melbourne.

Like most small bars in Adelaide, there’s some sort of theme. Hains & Co brings a nautical theme with some of the woodwork taken from an old jetty. There’s an old anchor on one of the walls, and there are even portholes. Seating comprises of chesterfields and booths, and just like on an old ship, even the outdoor tables move and wobble.

The house specialties at Hains & Co are rum and gin, so a few Gin and Tonics were required to start the night off.

The food menu can be seperated into 4 items; cheeses, cured meats, salmon and scallops.

Our group ordered the Three Cheeses which consists of English cloth, coulommiers truffe, cremeux d’agental with lavosh, quince, nuts and figs. The cheese is supplied locally from Say Cheese.
