Ninja Sushi & Noodle Bar

Most suburbs in Adelaide will have their own local sushi bar, and the one in Brighton comes in the form of Ninja Sushi. Like most places, they have an assortment of maki rolls, inside out rolls, nigiri and inari. Their menu also extends to a selection of rice and noodle dishes which includes curries, bento boxes, udon and ramen noodles.

The place is a bit larger than your typical sushi bar, and there are about a dozen seats in front of the counter area. With a nice wide frontage, there is plenty of natural light that flows into this place.

For lunch, I ordered the Japanese Curry Katsu Chicken Don. Unlike other places that serve this dish, this came with a serving of salad and vegetables in a disposable plastic bowl. The salad was fresh and crisp, while the vegetables were firm but a little on the bland side. Underneath the salad and vegetables was a small piece of crumbed chicken. The coating of the chicken was drenched in the curry sauce and became a little soggy, but I could tell the chicken was overcooked. The steamed rice was plentiful and way out of proportion to the other ingredients.

The staff were friendly and the service was fast and efficient. The cost of the dish was $9.90 which is fairly reasonable, however, it wasn’t exactly the best. Sushi rolls start from $2.5, while meals start from $9.90.

If my dish was anything to go by, I don’t think I’d be in a hurry to come back to this place anytime soon.
