Zuma Caffe

Zuma Caffe has been around for over 22 years and is one of the many places in the Central Markets serving breakfast and coffee. Of course, if you’re coming in for lunch, there are foccacias, bruschettas, lasagne, quiches and salads for lunch.

This quaint little caffe has a fair number of seats both inside and out. It has one entrance facing Gouger Street and another that leads into the Central Markets. There’s plenty of natural light that flows through the Gouger Street frontage giving this place a casual relaxed vibe.

For lunch, I had the Beef Lasagne with a serving of Greek Salad. The dish came out 15 minutes after ordering and had good presentation. The lasagne was of a decent size and contained chunks of good quality mince in a tangy tomato base. The layers were firm and well cooked, and I was glad to see it wasn’t just lasagne sheets with nothing in between. The Greek Salad had vegetables that fresh and crisp. The cubes of feta cheese were firm and salty, as were the pipped olives.

The staff were friendly and the service was good. The atmosphere was relaxed and the pricing was reasonable. The cost of the dish was $13.90 which wasn’t too bad considering the serving size and the quality of the dish.

I’d like to come back and try some of their other dishes on offer.
