Natee Thai – Relocated Store

Natee Thai is located on the western end of Jetty Road, literally metres away from Glenelg Beach. It had humble beginnings on Pulteney Street in the city and has since moved and replaced what used to be the Oyster Shop. The menu looks vaguely familiar but is full of your traditional Thai favourites. Like all good establishments, they have a cheap lunch time menu, which usually seals the deal when it comes to finding somewhere to eat during the day.

This particular store is a bit smaller than their previous Pulteney Street location, however, I had no problem getting a seat. The furnishings are a distinct black and yellow colour combination which gives it a nice level of funkiness. Conveniently located on a corner position, there is plenty of natural light flowing from multiple directions.

For lunch, I ordered the Pad Thai. The dish came out within 10 minutes of ordering and was nicely presented. My initial impression was that the serving size was a bit small, but what do you expect for under $10?

The noodles were firm and well cooked, while the chicken was tender and succulent. The bean sprouts provided a nice crunchy texture, however, they were a quite conservative with the peanuts. There was some sort of chilli powder place to one side, but that barely packed any heat. I thought the colour of the dish could have had more tinges of red, but the flavours were just right.

The staff were friendly and the service was good. The atmosphere was relaxed and the pricing was reasonable. The cost of the Pad Thai was $9.50 which represents good value when it comes to lunch.

The Pad Thai I had was certainly above average but not the best.
