Organik is your trendy hipster cafe out in the beachside suburbs. Anybody that is aware of this place would know how difficult it is to get a seat. Just the name itself screams out healthy, and it’s no surprise that only fresh organic produce is used in the store. Whether you’re vegan, vegetarian, gluten free, paleo or allergic to particular foods, everybody is catered for.

As the name suggests, there are two sections to this store. The health food section takes up one side and the cafe takes up the other. The inside section can easily fit 30 people with many more tables out on the pavement. Natural light easily flows through it’s frontage making this place light and airy.

For lunch, I ordered the Marinated Chicken Burger. The dish arrived 15 minutes after ordering and was average in presentation. It came with two chicken thigh fillets that were well marinated but slightly over cooked. The grilled bocconcini came in the form of two blobs. While the use of bocconcini sounds gourmet, they’re not particularly great in a burger because the cheese content isn’t evenly distributed. The tomato was soft and ripe, and the lettuce was fresh and crisp. The slight tartness of the lemon aioli was well complemented by the natural sweetness of the caramelised onion. The gluten free bun was nice and firm, and held all the ingredients in well.

The staff were friendly and the service was good. The atmosphere was relaxed and the pricing was average. The burger set me back $16.90 which is typical cafe and pub prices. Not the best burger I’ve ever had but it’s certainly good to know that it was healthy.
