Fedora’s Restaurant

Fedora’s Restaurant is located inside the Hilton Hotel. No, not the global hotel chain, but the hotel and pub in the suburb of Hilton.

The decor in the restaurant is modern and elegant. The white table cloths make the place very formal and the leather seating is quite comfortable. The matching wallpaper and light fittings add a bit of sophistication, and there is plenty of natural light coming from the main frontage. The food is modern Australian, however, all your pub favourites are still available.

For lunch, I had the 300g Wagyu Burger. The meal came out 15 minutes after ordering and was beautifully presented. Let me just say that this burger is huge! I also liked the way they separated the sauces (mustard, tomato relish, ranch dressing) and pickles into tiny little shot glasses. This burger was more than a handful and I spent a good 5 minutes working out how to best eat this thing.

This burger was as good as it looked. The 300g patty was thick, tender and succulent, and the diameter was the same size as the bun. The bacon was nice and crisp, not over cooked and not under cooked either. The lettuce and tomato were fresh, while the onion jam provided a nice subtle sweetness. They even included an egg in this burger which was well fried, however, I personally prefer a runny yolk. The dish came with a side of chilli and rosemary chips which were cooked to perfection. Nice and crunchy on the outside, and soft and fluffy in the centre. This was one of the largest and tastiest burgers I’ve ever had.

My friend had the Grilled Fish and Chips. It was nicely presented, but you can only make grilled fish look so good. She said it was good.

The staff were friendly and the service was excellent. The daily specials menu was brought to our table in the form of portable chalk board, drinks arrived promptly and plates were cleared as we finished. The atmosphere was relaxed even with the busy lunch hour rush. The pricing is reasonable and on par with other pubs. My burger set me back $20 which is more than reasonable considering the size and quality.

Verdict: They make great burgers!
