Out of the Blue is a small cafe located on the southern end of King William Street. The name of the place sounds so generic that I would have never picked it to serve Thai food. I guess this place caught me “out of the blue”.
The decor here is basic, however, it is neat and well presented. There’s seating both inside and at the outdoor dining area at the back. Apart from Thai food, they also have a breakfast menu with all your standard offerings.

Today, I ordered the Pad Thai. The meal arrived 10 minutes after ordering and was nicely presented. The noodles were nice and firm, and well cooked, however I did notice they were broken up into small pieces. The chicken was tender and succulent, although there were less than a dozen pieces in the entire dish. The bean sprouts and peanuts added a nice crunchy texture and the flavours and colour were just right. It wasn’t too bad.

The staff were friendly and welcoming, and the service was pretty good. The atmosphere was relaxed and the pricing is very reasonable. The Pad Thai set me back $8.90 which is food court prices, but with this place, you get service, a place to sit down and better quality food. The food portions are a bit smaller but what do you expect for the price?
Not a bad place to visit for a quick breakfast or lunch if you down that side of town.
