The Grange Hotel is perfectly positioned and is only metres away from the Grange foreshore. The hotel is sleek and stylish, and the dining room boasts magnificent views of the sea. The menu is very typical of what you’d get in any other pub, however, there is more of an emphasis on seafood.

Today, I ordered the Steak Sandwich. The meal was ready after a 15 minute wait and the presentation was slightly above average. I felt the steak sandwich could have been more carefully put together. There were two well portioned slices of lean, juicy, perfectly cooked steak. The smokey flavours from the steak was heavenly. The bacon was nice and crispy, and not too crunchy. The vegetables were fresh and crisp, and the beetroot added a nice natural sweetness. I felt the serving of chutney was perhaps a little too generous and this made some portions overly sweet. The focaccia roll was lightly toasted and firm enough to hold all the filling. The chips were the thin variety and were well cooked and adequately salted.

My friend had the Ceasar Salad and was very content with it.

The staff were friendly and welcoming, and the service was average. The service pretty much died after our meals were served. The drinks were never refilled and our plates were never cleared until we were about to leave. The pricing is average and on par with other pubs, which is quite reasonable considering the location.
A friend once told me the service was terrible at this place, and I can partially see where she was coming from. Of course, my experience was slightly better with the steak sandwich being one of the best I’ve had. If I’m going on a date and I want views of sunset, I’d consider coming here.
