Located very close to the former Mitsubishi Motors plant down south at Clovelly Park is the Tonsley Hotel. As you enter the pub, there is a decent sized beer garden decked out with a large flat screen TV. The inside is like a man cave with car parts sticking out of walls and images of vehicles wallpapered onto some of the walls. Seating is either at the bar, a series of leather booths and communal benches, and with views of a TV screen from almost every angle, you’ll never miss any of the action.

The menu is a combination of Mexican, American and traditional pub fare. I felt like a burger tonight, so I ordered the Where Did This Burger Come From? which contains an Australian beef patty, American mustard, cheese, pickles and sauerkraut. The meal came out after a 15 minute wait and was nice in presentation. The patty was nearly an inch thick, finely minced and well marinated. The beef was a bit dry as it was slightly overcooked. The sauerkraut was drained so much, it became dry and lost its sour taste. The bun was also dry, but was firm enough to hold all the ingredients together. The burger was OK but nothing special.

My friend had the Sticky American Pork Ribs. She said it was OK but the meat wasn’t falling off the bone as it should of. This indicates that the pork ribs weren’t steamed long enough before they were cooked on the grill or oven.

The staff were friendly and the service was average. The atmosphere was relaxed and the pricing was on par with other pubs. This place serves its purpose for those who live down South, but I thought my meal was nothing special.
