The Store

The Store is a beautifully decorated bistro located on the trendiest part of Melbourne Street. With plenty of seating both inside and out, this really is the perfect place to relax on a Sunday afternoon. I particularly like their round concrete outdoor tables. They’re so bold and low maintenance, and yet so practical.

Today, I ordered The Store Burger. The meal came out after a 15 minute and was nicely presented. The beef patty was a bit small, and the meat was slightly over cooked. The vegetables were fresh and crisp, and the cheese was nicely melted. The bacon was lean and crisp, while the chutney reminded me of salsa dip. The steak cut chips were perfectly cooked; crunchy on the outside, and soft and fluffy on the inside.

For me, the service wasn’t too bad. The food didn’t take too long to arrive and plates were cleared as we finished. The atmosphere was relaxed, even with the big wigs riding in their Porsche’s up and down Melbourne Street. As they have combined their lunch and dinner menu, people pay for their lunch at dinner time prices, which I think is a bit steep. Rarely do I pay over $20 for a burger, and if I do, it better be really special, which mine was not.

It’s not a bad place to come for a meal, I just thought they were a little bit pricey for what you get.
