My friends have been raving about this place for a while and today, I decided it was time to check it out. Located near the northern end of King William Road, Red Door Bakery is one of two stores with the same name in Adelaide. At Red Door Bakery, it’s all about using fresh quality ingredients and sourcing from local suppliers. This particular store isn’t very large with indoor seating for about 10 people, and maybe another 5 people on the make shift seating outside.
Today, I decided to order their Chicken, Leek and Potato Pie. The pie was a nice golden brown and well presented. The pastry was firm and flaky, and yet light and airy. The chicken was well flavoured and nicely cooked. Chicken breast was used which made me feel a bit healthier. The chunks of potato were nice and soft, and all the ingredients worked well together. I did feel the filling was a bit dry. A bit more gravy wouldn’t have gone astray.

The staff here are really friendly and the service is pretty good. My plate was quickly cleared as soon as I had finished. This place has more of a family atmosphere and is a really cosy place to hang out. The pricing is reasonable, however, I think it’s slightly higher than other places. The reason may be due to the suburb its located in. There’s a nice variety of pastries, sweets and beverages on offer. It’s a nice little setup and well worth a visit.
