La Boca Bar and Grill have collaborated with Hentley Farm and Wicks Estate to bring you their Pinot Noir Day Dinner. Created by Chef Nicholas this four course evening pairs each meal with Pinot or Pinot inspired cocktails. On Sunday we were lucky enough to try this awesome and well thought out menu.

First Course: Duck Liver Pâte, Pinot Jelly and Sourdough
The delicate sourdough was soft and worked well with the beautiful, creamy pate. The pinot jelly was something completely different, and helped to give the dish a sweeter element. The starter was paired with one of my favourites; Hentley Farm Blanc De Noir Sparkling. This easy to drink and light sparkling wine worked well with the contrasting elements of pate and pinot jelly.

Second Course: Duck Leg Confit with Plantain and Spinach Warm Salad
This was honestly one of the most well cooked and juicy duck dishes I have ever had. The seasoning on the skin was to die for, and left us wanting more. The light spinach salad was a perfect side as it was not too over bearing and complimented the salty duck skin. This dish was paired with a pinot sour cocktail, an easy to drink beverage which was not too sweet.

Third Course: Dry Aged Duck Breast with Parsnip Purée and Grilled Asparagus
It is a good thing we love duck at Adelaide Food Central as next was a succulent duck breast. Much like the second course, the bird was cooked perfectly, pink with a juicy inner. The parsnip puree was creamy and worked well with the crispy asparagus. Paired with the duck was a light Wicks Estate Pinot Noir, from the Adelaide Hills. A perfect wine to pair with this sort of dish.

Fourth Course: Pinot Poached Quince with Pistachio and Olive Oil Cake
Last but not least we had a gorgeous dessert. The olive oil cake was super moist and had so much flavour, we could not stop eating it. The pinot poached quince gave the dessert a little bit more texture and flavour. The cake was paired with Pinot Nouveau Sangaree, which I would describe as close to being a sangria.
Thank you to Chef Nicholas and the team at La Boca Bar and Grill for having us, it is always a pleasure. They will hold their Pinot Noir Day Dinner on Friday 20th of August from 6pm. We highly recommend booking your tickets and immersing yourself in this awesome experience.
