Marion Hotel – Winter Menu 2021

The Marion Hotel has just launched their winter menu full of hearty and feel good food. We were invited to the menu launch event run by Girl About Town and Marion Hotel, and what a fantastic event it was! The Marion Hotel boasts an impressive dining space with a gorgeous interior, as well as many classy function spaces.

The night kicked off with cocktail upon arrival featuring the delicious 5Nines Distilling Gincello. Walking through to the function room; we were met with the most amazing spread of food on display showcasing their new menu items. It gave us the opportunity to see how beautifully plated each dish is, and there’s clearly been a lot of thought and effort put into both taste and presentation.

For entree we were served a sample of six different dishes: Korean Fried Broccoli, Fried Halloumi, Vegetable Ratatouille, Arancini, Crispy Chicken Skin and Korean Fried Chicken. All of these dishes were very enjoyable, but the two that stood out in particular were the Korean Fried Broccoli and the Korean Fried Chicken. Fried cauliflower is a more common options these days, but I think the broccoli was a much tastier option! The chicken was also a very generous serving, and the glaze on both of these was just the right amount of sweetness.

There were seven mains to choose from, and I chose the Chicken Breast with Potato Dauphinois, Blistered Cherry Tomatoes and Tarragon Cream Sauce. The serving was huge and the chicken was succulent the whole way through, not an easy feat with chicken breast! The sauce was flavourful and beautiful with the chicken and a slice of the potato dauphinois. This dish definitely won’t leave you going hungry.

For dessert we had three mini versions of their dessert dishes: Snow Dome with Orange and Chocolate Mousse, Milk Chocolate Brownie, and Smoky Poached Pear Caramel Tart. The brownie was heavy on the chocolate and very indulgent, and the caramel tart was deliciously warm and gooey rather than being a cold, pre-made tart. The snow dome was the winner though – so fun to crack through the white chocolate shell into mousse which was the perfect flavour and consistency. We all left full and happy!

The Marion Hotel kitchen hours are Sunday to Thursday 7am-9pm, and Friday and Saturday from 7am-10pm.
