Sparkke at the Whitmore – Kangaroo Island Spirits Masterclass Series

There’s much to be said about what the southern island of South Australia, Kangaroo Island, has to offer. Beautiful scenery, amazing food and drink and plenty of things to see and do yet it’s not always easy to find the time to make the trip. The team at Kangaroo Island Spirits however is looking to bring at least a little taste of KI to the mainland with their Cocktail Masterclass Series.

Held monthly at Sparkke at the Whitmore these events look to highlight some delicious cocktails made better with the addition of KIS award winning spirits. The evening has you making three full sized cocktails along with take home recipes so you can get plenty of practice. Along with nibbles and discounts on KIS products this is an ideal night out with friends to sling back a few drinks of your own creation.

Starting the night off with something simple is the KIS Negroni. Made with KIS OGin, Campari, and Sweet Vermouth. This is a dead easy drink to make to ease you into the night and get things warmed up. The KIS OGin complements the Negroni’s sweetness with it’s hints of rosemary and orange zest. All together things makes for a very luscious and light cocktail with a slight kick depending on how you mix it.

Next up is the Apple Danish. A step up in complexity, it contains KIS Vodka Pure, Apple Cinnamon Syrup, Lemon Juice and Egg White. The take home recipes also include instructions for how to make your own syrups but for the purposes of the demonstration premade syrups are provided. As the name suggests the Vodka Pure is as natural a Vodka as it can be. With only slight citrus hints its main purpose is to bring forth the other flavours in the cocktail. Mixed in the Apple Danish you get a sweet, spicy and endlessly smooth drink. Served with dried apple slices and with a frothy top layer this cocktail is best for sipping on a breezy afternoon.

Last but not least is the Toasted Marshmallow Martini. If you like Espresso Martini’s than this is in the same ballpark. Made from KIS Vodka Pure, Marshmallow Syrup, Cream and Chocolate Liqueur. This Martini is in the realm of delicious and devilish creamy cocktails. The dangerous kind of cocktail that you could knock 3 or 4 back before you realise how many you’ve had. The Toasted Marshmallow Martini is the treat that keeps on giving.

If any of these drinks have enticed you keep an eye on the KIS Experiences page here for more information on the KIS Cocktail Masterclass Series and many other experiences from KIS. For a taste of the textures of Kangaroo Island from the centre of the city.
