Authentic Taste of India is located within a small shopping complex just outside of the city in Mile End. They have a decently sized menu that is broken down into entrees, biryani, chef’s specials, street food and individual proteins.
For lunch, I started off with the Samosa which comes in a serving of two. The fried pastry triangles were fried until crispy and the filling which consisted of spiced potatoes and green peas was well seasoned.
Next was the classic Butter Chicken. Boneless pieces of chicken were roasted in a tandoor and then cooked in a rich tomato and cashew nut gravy. The chicken was juicy and succulent with lovely smokey flavours. The sauce was rich and creamy, and the spices were well infused into the meat.
The staff were friendly and the service was fast and efficient. The atmosphere was relaxed and the pricing was reasonable. Entrees are around the $9 , while mains are a bit more expensive and average $15.
Authentic Taste of India is open for lunch from Wednesday to Friday from 11:30am-2:30pm, for dinner Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 5pm-9:30pm, and from Friday to Sunday from 5pm till late.
