Mad Mex is a Mexican restaurant chain that has numerous stores in other states. The first Adelaide store was just opened recently and is located inside the City Cross food court. Mad Mex is like the Subway of Mexican food. Customers select the style of dish which is in the form of tacos, nachos, burritos, naked burritos, quesadillas and grande melts. There are then 5 types of filling to choose from which include sauteed vegetables or your common proteins. Finally, a choice of 3 salsas can be added and you’re done.
Even though, it is located inside a food court, it’s still very tastefully decorated. There’s seating to the side of the restaurant and in the centre of the walkway.
For lunch, I ordered the new Ensalada Fresca. This delicious salad contained mesculin greens, black beans, pico de gallo, corn salsa, cheese, coriander, onion topped with freshly grilled chicken and drizzled with a chipotle lime vinaigrette. The chicken was well seasoned, tender and succulent, and you taste the lovely smokey flavours. The salad was bright, colourful, and absolutely refreshing. The dressing was tangy and tart, and brought all the elements together.
The staff were friendly and the service was fast and efficient. Dishes at Mad Mex start off at $8.90 and go up to $11.90. The delicious Ensalada Fresca set me back $10.90 which is an affordable meal. The ingredients were fresh and the serving size was generous. I left feeling very satisfied and too bloated.
Mad Mex will give their competitors a run for their money. Definitely worth checking out.
