Jamface Table

Anybody that has watched Masterchef or Poh’s Kitchen would be familiar with Poh Ling Yeow. Well not only does she have a stall at the Adelaide Showground Farmers Market, she also has one at The Market Shed on Holland. The Market Shed location doesn’t have the full range of products, in fact, I could only see her jars of Tomato Passata. There are two food offerings; paella and pizza fritta. The Paella wasn’t ready at 9am in the morning, so the choice was easy.

The Pizza Fritta is a pan fried pizza base topped with the tomato passata sauce, pecorino and basil. The dish was ready in less than 10 minutes and was nicely presented on a wooden board.

The star of the show is the tomato passata sauce. It has a lovely rich tomato flavour and is ideal as a pizza or pasta sauce. It almost reminded me of a bolognese sauce as I took my first bite.

The pecorino cheese was sharp and salty and was well balanced by the aromatic sweetness of basil. The pizza base was warm, crisp and chewy, and dense enough to fill you up. Such a simple and delicious dish, it’s almost genius.

The staff were friendly, the service was fast and efficient and the atmosphere was relaxed. The cost of the Pizza Fritta was $12.90 which is probably a bit more than what I would expect to pay. Having said that, it was a nice meal.
