Vietnamese street food is all the rage around other parts of Adelaide, but in the western suburbs, it’s pretty much the norm. The latest to open their doors is Kim’s Lunch Bar which is located on Trimmer Parade in Seaton. The menu is very basic with 5 types of meat rolls, dumplings, cold rolls, spring rolls and noodle salad bowls.

The decor is fairly basic with a dated grey colour scheme. There are a couple of seats to one side of the room should you choose to dine in.

For lunch, I ordered the Roast Pork Roll, which was made fresh on the spot at the time of ordering. The roast pork was well marinated and a generous amount was provided. There was a good amount of crunchy skin, however, there was also a fair amount of fat. The pickled carrot and diakon was sweet and tangy, while the fresh chilli provided good heat. The coriander was fresh and the cucumber added a nice crunchy texture. The roll contained generous amounts of pate and mayonnaise which provided nice depth. The roll was a bit soft and wasn’t as crusty as I would have liked it.

The staff were friendly and the service was good. The atmosphere was relaxed and the pricing was reasonable. The cost of the roll was $5 which is what you would expect to pay in the western suburbs. The most expensive item on the menu is the Noodle Salad Bowl which is $7, so everything here is quite affordable.
Their Roast Pork Rolls have the foundation for being really good, unfortunately they’re not quite there yet.
