Comida Catering Co

Set amongst a world of international flavours in the Central Markets comes the Comida Catering Co, which provides a taste of Spanish cuisine. There are exactly 7 breakfast options available until 11:30am. After that, the tapas menu kicks in with just under a dozen options to choose from. The highlight of the week is arguably their Friday Paella night which sees a giant paella cooked right in front of you.

As with most stalls in the Central Market, there’s not much space, with a few tables on the eastern side and some along the bar area.

After a 25 minute wait, the Paella is ready to be served. The presentation is not as nice as a serving cooked in an individual paella pan, but that’s to be expected. I did note the difference in serving sizes. There was a couple sitting next to me who also ordered the Paella and their servings were larger. The ingredients were fresh and the flavours were really good. My only gripe was that the paella rice was slightly undercooked.

The staff were friendly and the service was good. The atmosphere was vibrant, but that’s typical of the Central Markets on a Friday night. A serving of Paella will set you back $12.50 which is cheaper than you’ll get anywhere. Having said that, the dish could have been better executed.
