Salsa’s is one of the largest fresh mex franchises in the country with over 50 stores to their name. With the standard burritos, bowls, quesadillas, tacos and nachos on offer, it all comes down to how the meals are prepared.
This particular store is located metres away from the beach and is deceptively large. There’s a combination of normal seating and a standup communal bench for those who can’t wait to devour their meal.
For lunch, I had the Chicken Quesadilla. The dish came out 10 minutes after ordering and was average in presentation. The tortilla was lightly browned on both sides and very crispy in texture. The chicken was well marinated, tender and succulent, and you could taste the smokey flavours in the meat. The caramelised onion had a natural sweetness which complemented the chicken and the mild salsa.
My friend had the Baja Steak Bowl which contained grilled steak, onion, capsicum, coriander, lime rice, lettuce, sour cream and salsa fresca. He also commented on the smokey flavours of the meat and enjoyed his meal.
The staff were friendly and the service was fast and efficient. The atmosphere was relaxed and the pricing was reasonable. The cost of the quesadilla was $9.90 which was good value considering it was tasty and satisfying. My friends steak bowl cost slightly more.
I don’t normally recommend Mexican food from a chain, but they’re doing something right at this place.
