Little Chilli Padi is a small eatery located at the Ascot Park shopping complex. Serving Malaysian cuisine, they have a decent selection of stir fried noodles, noodle soups and curries on offer. They also have a small selection of authentic desserts as well as a full range of your typical beverages. This place is fully licensed.

The decor is neat and well presented with the dining area being in a large open space. The place was fitted with typical cafe style tables and chairs with enough room to seat 50 people. With floor to ceiling windows at it’s frontage, there was plenty of natural light to give this place a casual relaxed feel.

For lunch, I had the Beef Rendang. The dish came out after 15 minute wait and was nice in presentation.

The beef was well marinated, lean and tender, and the meat simply fell apart with the touch of a utensil. The flavours were there, however, they were very subtle. I thought the sauce could have had a thicker consistency, but overall, it wasn’t too bad.

My friend had the Sambal Kuey Teow. He said the thick rice noodles were well cooked, the vegetables were fresh and crisp, and the flavours were just right with a bit of heat thrown in. One criticism was that there were only 2 prawns in the entire dish.

The staff were friendly and the service was good. Meals came out promptly and were cleared as we finished. The only issue I had was that the table water was brought out after I had asked twice. The atmosphere was relaxed and the pricing was reasonable. Our dishes cost $9.90 each which was part of their lunchtime specials. I’d probably be paying a lot more for the same dish elsewhere, particularly on a Saturday.
