At the former site of The Dublin is the The Moseley Bar & Kitchen, one of the newest additions to the popular Glenelg cafe precinct. Set over two magnificent levels, there is a kitchen on each floor as well as a different menu. While the food offerings are not extensive, there is a focus on offering simple quality food using locally sourced ingredients.

The first thing that grabbed my attention were the hanging chairs. I’ve only ever seen these things on TV. Not an efficient use of space but a great talking point.

The ground floor area is stylish and chic with good use of neutral colours. Seating is plentiful with a combination of high bench and normal seats.

One of the features upstairs is the beautifully handcrafted marble bar. With a selection of local and international beers, ciders and predominantly South Australian wines, there is no reason for anyone to go thirsty.

The upstairs area is considerably spacious with a maximum capacity of 380. With a glass void, atrium and balcony area, the space is light and airy creating a casual relaxed vibe.

Of course, a spacious outdoor area such as this one would be perfect for those warm Summer nights.

In a first of it’s kind in Adelaide, this place offers Tank Beer. The beer is unpasteurised, which means it is decanted directly from the tank, kept chilled and then delivered directly to customers. This is the latest innovation when it comes to fresh beer delivery.

For lunch, I ordered the Prawn and Barossa Chorizo Pizza. The meal was ready after a 15 minute wait and was nicely presented on a wooden chopping board.
The size of the pizza was 12 inches in diameter and the toppings were well distributed. The prawns were tender and succulent, and were well balanced by the contrasting flavours of the other ingredients. The roasted capsicum provided a nice sweetness, the olives were tart and slightly bitter, and the chorizo had a subtle spiciness. The crust had a nice thin consistency, and you could taste the lovely smokey flavours from the wood oven.

The staff were friendly and accommodating, and the service was good. The atmosphere was relaxed, although I’m sure it would be different on a Friday or Saturday evening. The pricing of the upstairs menu seems fairly average, although $24 for a burger is a bit pricey. The cost of my pizza was $21, which was fair considering the size and quality of ingredients.
I was a bit disappointed that 3 of the 5 mains on offer weren’t available at the time of visit. I also think their food menu is very limited and what they’re offering is pretty much available elsewhere. Having said that, it is a very well decked out establishment and a good place to visit if you’re in the area.
