Thyme is located on the north western side of Victoria Square amongst other popular eateries. The breakfast offerings look fairly standard with over a dozen options, while the lunch menu is a combination of pub and Mediterranean inspired.

Set in a long skinny floor plan, the decor is neat and well presented with artworks for sale along the main walls. There’s not much natural light that flows through the frontage but there is still a casual relaxed vibe.

For lunch, I had the Gourmet Burger. The dish came out after a 15 minute wait and was nicely presented. The patty was minced chicken with carrot and onion. It was tender, succulent and well flavoured. The vegetables were fresh and crisp, and the bun was soft, and yet firm enough to hold all the ingredients. The battered fries were perfectly cooked; crunchy on the outside and fluffy on the inside.

The staff were friendly and the service was good. The atmosphere was relaxed and the pricing was reasonable. The cost of my burger was $10 which is part of their Monday Madness deal. Considering it was a decent burger, it represented good value for money. Their normal menu prices go up to around the $20 mark which is what you pay elsewhere anyway.
Verdict: A good find in the heart of the city.
