Dairy Bell Ice Cream first manufactured ice cream over 40 years ago in Melbourne. As a natural progression, retail ice cream stores were setup in various states to keep a close relationship with the public, and of course, sell their products.
The North Adelaide store was originally located on Melbourne Street, however, a few years ago, they moved to the O’Connell Street address. The place is itself is neat and well presented with enough seats for about a dozen people. Their menu is simple and straight forward with a selection of shakes, sundaes and ice creams on offer. They also sell hot beverages to help warm things up.
Today, I ordered their Jam Donuts which were premade and then fried upon ordering. Bought as a serving of three, the donuts were of a decent size. The exterior was firm and completely covered in sugar. The inside was light and fluffy, and the amount of jam filling was adequate as to prevent the donut from being too sweet.
The staff were friendly and the service was good. The atmosphere was relaxed and the pricing is reasonable. 3 Jam Donuts will set you back $3 which is fairly cheap in my books. All their items are under the $10 mark which is a lot less than what you’d pay at a specialist dessert place.
