Pera Kahve

I’ve noticed that most of the eateries down Jetty Road are concentrated towards the western end. It was my desperate search for food that lead me to Pera Kahve as there wasn’t much else near by.

Pera Kahve is open for breakfast and lunch and offers a unique selection of Turkish dishes, as well as some items that are more mainstream. They also have focaccias, rolls and cakes if your palette isn’t feeling too adventurous.

The decor here is simply cool and funky. I love how one of the main walls features recycled doors, while the wall art is creative and inspirational. The low hanging light fittings over the dining tables and the cushioned seating give this place relaxed casual vibe. During the day, this place is light and airy with plenty of natural rays flowing through the frontage.

For lunch, I had the Minced Meat and Cheese Gozleme. Now I know this didn’t take long to prepare because they started making the dish 10 minutes after I had ordered it, and it was at my table 5 minutes later. It was nicely presented on a wooden elliptical bowl.

The minced meat was lamb which was nicely marinated. It combined well with the softy gooey cheese and the hot crispy pastry. There’s nothing much else to say except it was a tasty dish.

The staff were friendly and the service was a bit on the slow side, although it was the lunch time rush. The atmosphere was relaxed and the pricing is reasonable. The most expensive breakfast item is $13.50, while the most expensive lunch option is $14.50. The gozleme set me back $9.50 which was good value considering it was filling and of an adequate size.

I can’t say I know of any other Turkish places, so this place was indeed a unique find.

Lets just keep Pera Kahve our little secret though!! Also don’t tell people that double shot coffees don’t cost extra. I look forward to not having to fight for a seat like you do further down Jetty Road. Yes their menu is amazing too. I Just wish they were also open Sundays, but that might/could/should change.
