The newest coffee shop to open in Adelaide is Larry & Ladd which are located in Regent Arcade. “Larry” is actually the nickname of the landlord that owns Regent Arcade, while “Ladd” is supposed to refer to the customers that come in. I had read about this place a few days ago, and because I was in the city for other matters, I thought I would check this place out.

The menu is simple and straight forward with 6 snacks and 3 types of toasties. At that time of the morning, none of the snacks were available for ordering.

The granite benchtops, the low hanging light fittings, the exposed brick walls and the polished concrete floors give this place an industrial warehouse feel. The place is deceptively spacious as it seats 28 on three communal tables.

For breakfast, I had the Ham and Mustard Pickle Cheese Toastie. The meal was ready after a 10 minute wait, and while it came on a wooden chopping board, I have seen better toasties in my time. The ham and pickle filling was rather conservative and all you could really taste was the sourness of the pickles. I got what I ordered I guess.

The staff were friendly and the service was really good. Drinks arrived promptly and the boards were cleared as I finished. The atmosphere was relaxed and the pricing for the toasties is a bit rich. The cost of the toastie was $5.50, which is not the most I’ve had to shell out, but at the same time, it wasn’t that good.
Apparently, coffee is what they’re good at here. I wasn’t able to try any of their other snacks, but I would steer clear of the toasties in the future.
