Daily Bread – Waymouth St

When I finished my gym workout this morning, I had to think long and hard as where I was heading for lunch. When I checked my phone, I saw an Instagram post from Daily Bread Waymouth Street with a picture of their Roast Beef Baguette. I was sold on the idea and was off to check them out.

Before today, I didn’t even know where Daily Bread Waymouth Street was. The store is actually located inside The Lobby food court.  There is another Daily Bread in the City Cross food court, and the owners are related to each other, however, the offerings are not exactly the same.

Daily Bread Waymouth Street has been around for over 8 years, and the owner Niki, prides herself on providing healthy, tasty and premium quality menu items using ingredients that are locally sourced. If Niki won’t eat it herself, she won’t sell it to the public. This place is by no means your typical sandwich shop. All the vegetables are freshly cut up and their roast meats are slowly cooked first thing in the morning.

For lunch, I ordered a Roast Lamb Baguette. The lamb was well marinated, lean, tender and succulent. The meat was so soft and delicate, it simply fell apart. It was covered in a thick rich gravy that was full of aroma. Combined with lettuce, tomato and Spanish onion in a freshly baked baguette, this was truly one of the most delicious rolls I’ve ever eaten.

The presentation of the Roast Lamb Baguette wasn’t photo worthy because the lettuce and tomato was covering the meat, so Niki decided to make me up a better presented Roast Beef Baguette. The Roast Beef Baguette was equally as good!

Niki also decided to throw in a raw juice blend to wash it all down. I can’t remember the exact combination of ingredients in the juice, but it was fantastic!

The staff were friendly and the service was fast and efficient. The atmosphere was relaxed with a lot of the clientele being office workers. The cost of the baguette was $9.20 which is great value considering the quality of the ingredients and the decent serving size. It was one of the best I’ve ever eaten and I’m still licking my lips just thinking about it.

Verdict: This place offers healthy and delicious food using locally sourced ingredients at a reasonable price. This is my new favourite lunch spot in town! Check them out!
