Kalymnos Pastries is small patisserie on Henley Beach Road in Torrensville. I didn’t even know this place existed before today, and I didn’t see much signage outside either. When you enter, you’ll see an assortment of sweets and pastries, some of which I’ve never seen or heard of. Seating is limited with several bench seats inside and a few more outside.
Today, I ordered the Coq. It’s made up of two sponge slices surrounding a cream cheese filling and topped off with a chocolate ganache. The sponge cake was soft and moist and the chocolate added a decadent sweetness. The cream cheese filling was quite bland and didn’t really add anything to this sweet.

My friend ordered the Baklava. The presentation was quite good and I loved the shiny layer of pastry on top. I expected the pastry to flaky but it was drowned in so much syrup, I felt like I was in a sugar coma. The crushed almonds and pistachio added a nice crunchy texture, and if you could get past the sweetness, it was pretty good.

The staff were friendly and the service was fast and efficient. The atmosphere was relaxed and the pricing was reasonable. My sweet set me back $4 which was quite reasonable. I’m not surprised that this place has won awards.
