The name of this place is rather generic and I wouldn’t have picked Foodtopia as a place that serves Asian food. Conveniently located on North Terrace, close to the universities, you would imagine this place does a roaring trade with the foot traffic that goes past. The area is spacious and open planned, and the decor is reasonably modern.

For dinner, we shared a Pad Thai and Sizzling Mongolian Beef. The dishes arrived 15 minutes after ordering and the presentation was good.
The Pad Thai was of a good serving size. The noodles were slightly over cooked as they weren’t nice and chewy and instead, they were a bit soggy. The chicken was tender and succulent, however, my friend found a small piece of chicken bone in the dish. I didn’t get the crunchiness from the peanuts or bean sprouts as I was expecting. The flavours were good and the colour was a nice orange brown.

The Sizzling Mongolian Beef was fairly stock standard. The beef was well tenderised and succulent. The sauce was well balanced with good flavour.

The staff were friendly and the service was fast and efficient. The atmosphere was relaxed, although the customers started to stream in as we were finishing off. We came here for a special dinner deal where it was buy one main meal and get one free on specifically selected dishes. Dinner cost $14.80 for two main meals which represented good value. If I were to pay the normal price for one main, I’m not sure I’d be getting a good deal.
Verdict: I’d probably visit Chinatown for my fix of Asian food.
