Todai Sushi King is located near the western side of Rundle Street. I’ve been to this place in the past and was barely impressed, but in recent times, they’ve introduced the sushi train concept into their store. To make things even more enticing, all their sushi plates are currently $3.
The Raw Salmon and Cod Roe was nice. The salmon was fresh and the sushi rice was well cooked.

The Raw Salmon and Mango was something I’ve never had before but it was good. The natural sweetness of the mango was a contrast to the other elements of this sushi.

The Karaage Chicken was well executed. The chicken was tender and succulent, and it was enclosed in a nice firm crispy batter.

The Crumbed Chicken wasn’t too bad either. Nice morsels of crumbed chicken wrapped in sushi rice.

The Kingfish and Benito was pretty good. The kingfish was soft and delicate. This was well balanced by the mayonnaise and benito shavings.

The following are the dishes my friend had. She also a bad experience here several years ago but today, she was impressed.

The staff were friendly and the service was good. There were plenty of plates to choose from and not just the cheaper items. A waitress came around and frequently asked us whether we wanted to order something to be specifically made. At $3 a plate, this is on par with their competitors when they have their specials on.
Verdict: The introduction of the sushi train at this store has seen a big improvement in the quality of their products. I’d definitely come back to this place.
