Bici Espresso e Pasticceria

I have previously read about this place and knew it was somewhere on Hutt Street, but it was never obvious to me exactly where it was. It was only one day when I was driving down towards South Terrace did I notice the big signage. The venue itself is modern and spacious with two counters of cakes and pastries are clearly visible as you walk into the door. I understand the products are baked on site so that’s a point of difference to those nearby franchised cafes. There is plenty of seating both inside and out, more than enough to cater for the busy crowds that flock towards the Hutt Street precinct.

Today, I ordered the Chocolate Custard Cronut. All the cronuts weren’t perfect in shape but I just happened to get a well presented one. The pastry was nice a flaky while the custard had a thick consistency with a subtle sweetness. The combination of white and milk chocolate added more sweetness to the rich treat. Their cronuts come in two sizes, $4 for the small and $5.50 for the normal size.

The staff were friendly and welcoming, and the service was above average. The atmosphere was relaxed and the pricing is reasonable. I’ve paid up to $7 for a cronut at some of the franchise stores so it was good to see that this place doesn’t rip you off. Most of the cakes and pastries aren’t particularly ground breaking, but it’s still a nice place to visit none the less.
