North

There are a handful of places to eat at Adelaide Casino with the conveniently positioned North being one of the better places to visit. The decor is quite modern and stylish with plenty of natural light coming in from the wide eastern frontage. The pristine curved high ceilings give this place a sense of spaciousness and the impressive wine collection along the northern wall is one to marvel at.

Today, I ordered the Paringa Farm Lamb Rump which comes with a chick pea curry, chargrilled zucchini and mint yoghurt. The dish was ready after a 15 minute wait and was nicely presented. The lamb was tender, succulent and well marinated. The serving size was generous and cooked until it had a nice crispy exterior with a slight pinkish tinge in the centre. Some portions of the lamb were quite fatty but that only accounted for 5% of the meat. The chick peas were soft with a firm exterior and the subtle curry flavours were well infused into the vegetarian favourite. The zucchini had nice grill marks, however, the vegetable was slightly on the bitter side. The mint yoghurt that they were topped with didn’t mask the bitterness in any way.

My friend had the Seared Wagyu Beef Carpaccio as an entree and said it was fantastic!

For mains, my friend had the Slow Roasted Duck Breast. I was told it wasn’t as nice as the entree. Apparently the duck wasn’t well marinated.

The staff here were friendly and the service was excellent. Drinks were constantly refilled and plates were cleared as we finished. The waitresses were attentive but not obtrusive. If they had placed cloth napkins on our laps, I would mistaken this place for silver service. The atmosphere was relaxed, although this place wasn’t as busy as expected. This was probably due to the heat wave we’re currently experiencing. The pricing is a little on the high side, but reasonable for a place that represents itself as fine dining.

This place was certainly a surprise and I will definitely be back.
