Grange Jetty Cafe is located on the corner of Jetty Street and The Esplanade in Grange. Situated right in front of the beach it’s actually not possible to get any closer to the water. With plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, the venue boasts magnificent views of the sea and the evening sunsets are simply breath taking. There are shades to block out the glaring sun, but as we found out this afternoon, not all of them were in working order. The food here is a combination of Italian and Modern Australian.
Tonight, I ordered the Calzone Rustico. The meal was ready after a 15 minute wait and was beautifully presented. Even with 10 of us at the table, they still managed to get all the meals out at the same time. The calzone was a generous size taking up most of the plate. The crust was a nice consistent thickness that was baked to perfection. There was plenty of filling on the inside and the ingredients were of a good quality and well cooked. The bolognese sauce was subtle in sweetness and had a nice thick consistency. I was actually quite impressed with this dish.

There were no complaints from my fellow diners with regards to their dishes.

The staff were friendly and courteous. The service was good for the most part. Drinks were served promptly, meals arrived on time and plates were cleared when finished. My only criticism was the faulty shade where we were seated. I asked one of the waitresses to lower the shade to which she replied it was broken. It was only after we had finished our meals that the same shade was lowered for a table adjacent to us. The atmosphere was vibrant particularly due to the large number of customers that frequent this place. The pricing was fair considering the prime location.
The general consensus was that the food was good. The seating was a bit cramped and the problem with the shade marred what would have been a good evening. I think I would actually come back to this place.
