Hang Bakery

Hidden away in the Foodland Shopping Centre on Henley Beach Road is Hang Bakery. They sell an assortment of sweets, pastries, fresh bread and your common variety of Vietnamese rolls. The first thing that blew me away about the food here was the price. There is a selection of Vietnamese rolls for $4! There are places in the city that sell them for nearly double the price and they’re not even good!

Today, I ordered the Roast Pork Roll. The bread roll was a decent size, although I did think it was a bit smaller in width than other places. The bread was fresh and crusty, but that’s what you’d expect from a bakery. I’m in two minds about whether this was good or bad, but my roll was full of crunchy pork skin and no pork meat. Each bite was heavenly and full of flavour. There was the odd piece of skin that was hard enough to break a molar, but that didn’t detract from the experience.

There was a decent amount of filling inside my roll. The cucumber, chilli and coriander were fresh, although the chilli they used did lack heat. The pickled carrots and radish were nice and crunchy, and had a nice soured pickled taste. They also used an egg mayonnaise which was kind of bland.

The staff were friendly and the service was pretty good. The atmosphere was relaxed, although there are only 4 seats at this place. The pricing is fantastic and you probably won’t find a cheaper Vietnamese roll (or satisfying lunch) in Adelaide. Definitely worth checking out if you’re in the area!

Definitely 1 of the 2 best Best Vietnamese roll places in Adelaide, right up there with Thanh Long on Hanson rd! Agreed on the price, 10x better than some city places that charge way to much!
