Having only been to their city store, I was to keen to visit the place that started it all. This place just screams hipster from the moment you walk in. The small sun room at the front, the wall mounted shelves, and the prominent use of timber makes this place cute and yet quirky.

We all know that Bar 9 is about quality coffee that has been ethically supplied, however, they also serve food. They have a breakfast menu, cakes, pastries and a few items that you could count as lunch options.

Today, I ordered the Lamb Piadina. It was premade, reheated and then served to me within 5 minutes of ordering. The Lamb Piadina consisted of spiced lamb, mint, spiced yoghurt, pine nuts and provolone cheese. The lamb mince was tender and well marinated. The pine nuts were soft with a slight crunchy texture, while the mint gave this dish real depth. The piadina was lightly toasted and all the ingredients worked really well together.

The staff were friendly and welcoming, and the service was above average. The atmosphere was vibrant, particularly with the busy lunchtime crowd, and the pricing was fair, if you compare it to other places that do a similar thing. They do just about everything right at this place and it’s not hard to see why it’s so popular.
