The Yiros On Henley is a modern looking Greek take away store located on the corner of Henley Beach Road and Marion Road. As their name suggests, yiros are their specialty with the lamb and chicken delivered fresh and marinated on site. They also have the usual offerings such as fish and chips, schnitzel, burgers and salads.

Today, I ordered the Lamb AB. Their version of the AB consists of yiros meat, shredded cheese, garlic sauce and chilli sauce. The meal was ready 10 minutes after ordering and was nicely presented. The lamb was well marinated, lean, tender and succulent, and there was a decent amount provided. The chilli sauce packed a bit of heat, while the garlic sauce was very thick and had too much yoghurt in it. The garlic sauce could have done with more garlic and olive oil to give it a smoother consistency. The chips were of a medium thickness and were under cooked. The shredded cheese was a bit of a surprise and simply made the dish more gooey.

The staff were really friendly and the service was pretty good. The atmosphere was relaxed and the price point is quite reasonable. The cost of my AB was on par with other places that offer the same dish. The quality of the meat that they use here is quite good and full of flavour. Their version of the AB was a bit of a disappointment, but I’m sure their yiros would actually taste good considering the same meat is used.
