Tin Bin Bo is a small Vietnamese eatery located on Grange Road. They specialise in Vietnamese rolls but also offer a selection of rice vermicelli dishes as well as other small snacks. The place itself is in a long narrow building with garage and cooking facilities at the rear of the premises. The service and dining area is at the front with seating for a maximum of 8 people. The décor is very basic, but clean and well presented.
Today, I ordered a Roast Pork Roll. I firmly believe cleanliness is next to godliness, so I was glad to see the staff using disposable gloves when handing the food. When my roll was being put together, I could see the staff member really packing in the roast pork, similar to what I would do if I were doing it myself at home. Together with all the trimmings, my roll was ready in less than 5 minutes of ordering.
The star of the show is the roast pork. While there was a generous amount provided, it definitely could have done with more salt during the marination process. The skin of the pork could also have been more crispier. The pickled carrot and radish were nice and crunchy, as was the cucumber. The coriander and spring onion gave the roll more depth, and the fresh chilli slices made everything more exciting. The dressing used was a house made chilli sauce which was different to the egg mayonnaise that I’m used to. The bread roll was fresh and crusty, which is what you would expect.

The staff were really friendly and the service was very good. The atmosphere was relaxed and the pricing was very good. Every item on the menu is under $10, and based on the serving sizes, represents good value for money. While my Roast Pork Roll was slightly above average, I have no doubt that I’ll come back and try some of their other dishes.
