The Banh Mi store in the Central Markets is a lot flashier than other stores that sell the same product. Personally, I can’t resist a Vietnamese roll, even though the prices here are slightly higher. On this particular occasion, I ordered one of their Roast Pork Banh Mi.

For $7.50, you would expect this roll to be life changing. It wasn’t. The star of the show, the roast pork, was fatty and the skin wasn’t even crunchy. They added egg mayonnaise, which was good. The cucumber and coriander were fresh and crisp. The fresh chili wasn’t hot enough, and the pickled carrot and radish were well made. The bread was of a good size, and was nice and crusty.
The service was OK, but the store attendant didn’t seem to smile much. The Roast Pork roll was OK but the price is too high for what you get.

I think it changed hands. The good rolls are now in grenfell plaza!
