Bar 9 Central

Bar 9 Central is a brand new coffee shop located in the Adelaide Central Plaza food court. With it’s original sister store located on Glen Osmond Road, not only is this place a specialty coffee supplier, but they also sell a range of artisan teas and are a go-to destination for brunch.

This place is cleverly laid out with a mixture of old and new. With the exposed ceilings and used front doors, it’s almost as though they’re going for the recycled warehouse look. The basket lanterns and the individual storage units give this place a bit of edge. The storybook menus were unexpected and interesting to say the least.

Today, I ordered a slice of their Lemon Cheesecake. The dessert was served on a cute little chopping board with a fork driven through the centre. Nothing new in the world of food, but certainly a bold statement. The cheesecake was not baked, but a sleek cream cheese composition. The biscuit base was firm and moist, while the icing sugar topping complemented the zestiness of the cheesecake filling.

The staff were friendly and the service was exceptional. At $5.50 for a cake slice, it is more than reasonable considering you’re paying more elsewhere. A nice addition to plethora of new coffee places opening up around town.
