Oo’s Kitchen is brand new suburban eatery that serves up authentic Singaporean cuisine. Located on Fullarton Road, the place is considered small with a maximum seating capacity of 35. The decor here is basic, yet modern. The sturdy timber furniture, the stylish light fixtures, and the photo frames on the walls, give the place a homely feel. There is wheel chair access through the front door, and for customers, there is parking at the rear as well as the adjacent side streets. There is parking at the front, but it is limited to 15 minutes during business hours.
Headed by Chef Gwen Oo, this family run business specialises in traditional home style cooked dishes that have been passed down from many generations. With around 30 dishes to choose from, the choice is a difficult one. In the end, we decided to go for the Samosa and Beef Rendang.
SAMOSA – The samosas were piping hot with a nice subtle spicy filling. Very similar to the Indian vegetarian samosa.
BEEF RENDANG – The beef was soft and delicate. It fell apart as you touched it with a fork. The flavours were just right and there was a generous amount provided.
Even on a Sunday night, this place was packed. The place was full of Asian people which says a lot about the authenticity of the place. The pricing here is cheap, where you’re paying no more than $14 for a main. If you consider the portion size and the quality of the dishes, it really does represent good value for money. Eating here brought back fond memories of my recent trip to Singapore.
This place is fantastic and I can’t recommend it enough. You’ll be saying oooo! after you’ve eaten at Oo’s Kitchen! This place is a must for Singaporean food lovers.
